Blue Gem Capital invests in equity and equity-like securities of domestic small, early-staged to mid-sized Main Street and high-growth small businesses. The Fund endeavors to develop diverse investment opportunities across varied industry groups and stages of growth.
Our regional thesis focuses on the unique industrial strengths and untapped potential within Central Appalachia as defined as the Eastern counties of Kentucky, SE counties of West Virginia and Western counties of Virginia. We prioritize investments that anchor sustainable community growth and long-term economic stability.
Investment Criteria

Geography
We prioritize category-defining companies headquartered in or conducting substantial business throughout Central Appalachia and its connected industrial markets.

Metrics
Small, early-stage, to mid-sized businesses with high growth potential and/or positive EBITDA preferred. We look for scalable revenue models and demonstrated operational excellence.

Founder Fit
We partner with founders who are passionate about their products and culture, focusing on leadership capable of fueling long-term innovation in our region.

A preliminary assessment of the pitch materials and business model against our geographic focus and industrial criteria submitted via our application process.
2. Management Dialogue
Discussion with the founding team to evaluate cultural fit, operational vision, and the passion behind the product.
3. Terms & Due Diligence
Comprehensive analysis of financials, core infrastructure, and market positioning, leading to a formal investment decision.
